Along with its House counterpart Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), the bills are designed to provide the government and copyright holders with powers to block access to “rogue websites dedicated to infringing or counterfeit goods,” especially those registered outside the United States. Since its introduction on May 11th, 2011, the proposed bill has been met by opposition from various digital rights activists and bloggers for its encroachment in online activities protected under the first amendment of free speech.

New on Squdioo: Dot TV Domains for Media Websites
Most internet users are familiar with the .com and .net extensions used in the internet domain names we see in our browser address bars (eg. www.squidoo.com) however there are a growing number of new extensions gaining popularity such as .tv for video sites like hollywood.tv
A Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) extension represents a country such as .us for the USA or .ca for Canada. Other ccTLD’s are being adopted for their familiar meanings such as .fm and .tv
Technically the extension .tv represents the island nation of Tuvalu, however it’s popular use as an acronym for ‘television’ has given it life as a popular domain extension for entertainment and broadcast websites featuring rich video content.
